How we handle personal data.

Last updated 1 October 2026.

01Who we are

ResearchInnovation is a practice of InfiniTEN Limited, registered in England and Wales, company no. 14874849. Our registered office is 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. InfiniTEN Limited is the data controller for the personal data described here, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration no. ZB649481.

For anything about this notice or your data, email [email protected] or write to the registered office.

02If you book a call or email us

When you book a call we collect your name, email address and organisation, and whether you are an investor, a grant holder or a public funder. When you email us we receive whatever you choose to include.

We use this to arrange and hold the call, reply to you, and keep a record of the conversation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in responding to an enquiry you started. If we go on to work together, our basis becomes the performance of a contract.

Please don't send confidential material before we've spoken.

03When we research companies

Our work involves reading public records about companies built on publicly funded research. Those records name people, including directors, founders and inventors. We may record a person's name, role, company, published work and patents, and their part in funded projects.

We use this to assess companies and prepare profiles for clients. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. We only use information that is already public, and we do not collect special category data.

If you are named in a profile and did not hear from us directly, this section is how we tell you. You can ask what we hold about you, and you can object.

04When we speak with companies and universities

When we speak with a company or a university, we may note what they tell us about their plans, licences and funding, along with the names and roles of the people we spoke to.

We use this to assess companies and prepare profiles for clients. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests.

Profiles keep this apart from the public record. We only pass on what we learned in a conversation with the permission of the person or organisation who told us.

05Who we share data with

  • Booking tool. Calendly appointment schedules, provided by Calendly, processes booking details on our behalf.
  • Email provider. IONOS hosts our email.
  • Clients. Company profiles, including names from public records, are shared with the clients they were prepared for. Anything from a conversation is included only with permission.
  • Professional advisers. Accountants, lawyers and insurers, where needed.

We do not sell personal data. Where a provider stores data outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

06How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted 12 months after our last contact.

Client records are kept for six years after the work ends, for tax and legal reasons.

Research notes on individuals are reviewed every six months and deleted when no longer needed.

Notes from conversations with companies and universities are kept for as long as the company is in an active profile, and reviewed on the same cycle.

07Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you. You can also ask us to correct it, delete it or restrict how we use it, and you can object to our use of it. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
